King Charles announces reduced cancer treatment following early diagnosis

King Charles III said on Friday that his cancer treatment will be reduced in the new year, citing early diagnosis, effective medical intervention, and adherence to his doctors’ guidance.

The monarch, who was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer last year February, made the announcement during a televised broadcast as part of a national cancer awareness campaign in Britain, according to CBS.

“I am able to share with you the good news that, thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention, and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year,” the King said.

It would be recalled that doctors detected an unspecified form of cancer in the monarch, Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The palace stated that the cancer was discovered following treatment for an enlarged prostate.

It also confirmed that the King had “commenced a schedule of regular treatments” and would “postpone public-facing duties” during this period.

It, however, stated that the monarch will continue with his official business and office work as usual.

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” the statement said.

It added that the monarch had “chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
