Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has signed over ₦300.6 billion 2023 Supplementary Budget into law.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the supplementary budget would be deployed to combat insecurity, reduce poverty, and extend assistance to less-privileged individuals across the state.

He said the supplementary budget was presented to the governor by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahya-Daura, last Friday.

“This move underscores the government’s determination to prioritize the welfare of its citizens and create a safer and more prosperous environment for all residents,” Mohammed said.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Radda expressed hopes that the supplementary budget will help in advancing the state’s development and ensuring a brighter future for the residents.

He commended the lawmakers for their tireless efforts in crafting the budget and stressed the importance of unity and cooperation between the executive and the legislature.

The governor, in the same vein, reiterated his government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the allocation and utilization of resources for the development of the state.

It was reported that Radda had requested the House of Assembly’s permission to approve the supplementary budget to augment the N289.6 billion 2023 budget signed by his predecessor, former governor Aminu Masari, in December 2022.
