After spending 21 days in captivity, a Katsina businessman, Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter have regained freedom from their abductors.
According to reports by the DAILY POST the victims were released on Wednesday night.
According to him, “a ransom of N50 million was paid to secure their release.”
“Alhamdulillah! Anas, Halimatu, and their daughter have been released by their captors tonight. They are on their way home. But a ransom of N50 million was paid to the assailants,” he said.
He could not disclose the location where they were picked after being released.
The victims were abducted on August 26, 2025, from their residence in Filin Canada Quarters, Katsina metropolis by the bandits.
The kidnappers initially demanded N600 million for their release, but following negotiations by the family members, the kidnappers later reduced the ransom to N100 million on September 3, before finally settling for N50 million.
