The Kano State Government has directed all newly appointed political office holders to immediately declare their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The directive was issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, during the ongoing Special Capacity Building Workshop for top government functionaries in Kaduna.
The measure, according to him, is intended to ensure transparency about public officials’ financial status and dealings, prevent potential conflicts of interest, and strengthen good governance.
“All political appointees recently appointed by the Kano State Government are directed to immediately declare their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau,” Alhaji Umar Faruk stated.
The SSG emphasised that asset declaration is not only a legal obligation but also a demonstration of commitment to integrity, accountability, and service in the public interest.
He further noted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains steadfast in his commitment to entrench good governance and hold public officials to the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
The directive came on the same day Governor Yusuf swore in two newly confirmed commissioners during the state executive council meeting in Kano.
The appointees are Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, a lawyer and SAN-designate, and Dr. Aliyu Isa-Aliyu, an associate professor and statistician-general.
Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, SAN, was appointed Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kano State, while Associate Professor Aliyu Isa-Aliyu was assigned to head the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.
In addition, Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir was sworn in as Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.
The directive underscores the state government’s determination to strengthen accountability frameworks as part of ongoing reforms in public service.
