Jigawa state High Court has acquitted a young man, Isah Usman (Alias “Niga”) who was earlier arraigned before it for charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and robbery.

Niga was arrained before Justice Muhammad El-Usman for alleged robbery that occurred on the 2nd day of February 2020, at Chaichai Tsohuwa Village of Dutse Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

In his ruling on Wednesday, Justice El-Usman said the prosecution team has failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt as required by law, as it failed to call in any witness or even provide an exhibiti linking the accused to the crime.

Though the prosecution council had two witnesses, it failed to provide them before the court as the trial lasted.

The presiding judge further stressed the need for effective synergy between security agencies; Ministry of Justice and the complainants to ensure that Capital Offences are properly investigated and prosecuted which will help courts to arrive at more just and fair decisions.

Justice Muhammad El-Usman also frowned at how some victims fail to testify before the court of law, adding that this has always been against the law instead of helping justice delivery.
