The theme of this year’s Law Week; Gender Based Violence: Deprivation of Women’s Right to Inheritance is very relevant and germane considering recent happenings and decisions of our courts on this all important issue of inheritance by women.
I am confident that deliberations at this event will bring about positive solutions that will address frontally the discrimination against women in matters of inheritance. I hope the Law Week will serve as an avenue to draw attention to recent decisions of our Courts that have abolished discriminatory practices against women in inheritance.
