In a month packed with activities marking the 2022 International Women’s Day, the Lagos State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria embarked on a series of engagements with its members and the larger sisterhood of women in a number of events.
One of these events was a Town Hall Meeting held on March 8 at the Ijora Town Hall on Palace Road Ijora, under the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
In their respective remarks Mrs. Chinwe Efobi, who is the Chairperson of FIDA, Lagos, and the Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Roli Craig, charted both the travails and triumphs of the womenfolk in the FIDA Lagos catchment area, and asserted that though some progress had been made in improving the lot of women, a lot of work still needs to be done.
The significance of the occasion was not lost on the participants at these well-attended events – and in particular the Town Hall Meeting, which they described as highly successful and impactful, saying that the positive repercussions of the meeting, and the knowledge that was shared therein, would go a long way in advancing their lives and careers in a profoundly good way. Far greater than financial gain, they said, the activities celebrating the glory of womanhood, such as the Town Hall Meeting, were a priceless opportunity for their empowerment and betterment.
