Indian authorities have arrested a Nigerian woman in her rented apartment in Kondhwa, Pune, for staying in the country after the expiration of her visa.
The woman was arrested by the Foreigners Registration Office of Pune City Police following a tip-off from her neighbourhood.
According to The Indian Express, the owner and the real estate agent of the property were questioned, and an offence was registered against them by the police for failing to submit the information about her illegal stay in India.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajkumar Shinde, said the Nigerian’s visa expired and she bargained with the duo to live in the apartment without proper documentation.
