Imo Assembly confirms appointment of Ezirim as Deputy Clerk

The Imo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of Mrs Anne-Martins Ezirim as Deputy Clerk of the State Assembly.

Her appointment became necessary as the State House of Assembly has been without a Deputy Clerk since September 2024, which created a vacuum in the legislative proceedings of the House.

The motion for the appointment was moved by the member representing Ngor-Okpala Constituency, Obinna Egu, who informed the House that the qualifications for Deputy Clerk are clearly stated in Section 16 of the Imo State House of Assembly Service Commission Law No. 21 of 2018.

He further informed the House that recent promotions approved by the State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, have elevated some staff from the legislative department to fill the position of Deputy Clerk.

He remarked that such an appointment will help reduce the workload in the office of the Clerk of the House and enhance service delivery in the legislative bureaucracy.

After much deliberation on the motion, the House resolved to officially notify the Chairman of the Imo State House of Assembly Service Commission through the Clerk to take further necessary action in line with the provisions of Law No. 21 of 2018 to implement the decision of the House.
