The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has urged over 10,000 police constables of the 2022 batch across Nigeria to prioritize professionalism, discipline, and service in their policing duties.
The directive was conveyed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Sulieman Amuda Yusuf, at the passing-out parade of 480 constables at the Police Training School, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State.
The event, which marked the successful completion of six months of intensive training, was graced by prominent dignitaries, including, Governor Hope Uzodinma, represented by Modestus Osakwe, Commissioner for Homeland Security, his Abia State counterpart, Alex Otti, also represented by his Special Adviser on Security Affairs, Hashimu Argungu and others.
In his keynote address, AIG Sulieman emphasized the importance of community policing and the strategic deployment of recruits back to their local communities in Imo and Abia States.
He highlighted the critical role of grassroots familiarity in addressing unique security challenges, fostering trust, and enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and the public.
Delivering a message on behalf of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) stressed the foundational role of discipline within the Nigerian Police Force.
He encouraged the graduating constables to remain accountable and contribute meaningfully to national security.
Representatives of the Governors of Imo and Abia States respectively, called on the recruits to embrace community engagement and work closely with citizens to ensure effective policing and public safety.
Outstanding recruits were also recognized with awards for their exceptional performance during training.
ACP Sulieman Shuaibu, Commandant of the Police Training School, Nekede, expressed his gratitude to the IGP and other dignitaries for their unwavering support.
He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing disciplined and capable officers equipped to tackle modern security challenges.
