The Plateau State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the killing of a commercial driver in Jos by suspected hoodlums.

It was learnt that the driver, Fwinbe Thomas, had brushed a motorcycle rider with his vehicle while driving home after the close of work.

However, some hoodlums who were angered by the incident were said to have chased the driver in their motorcycles and attacked him along Tudun Wada Ring Road in Jos, and this led to his death.

The spokesperson for the state Police Command, Alabo Alfred, condemned the action of the hoodlums in a statement on Thursday while confirming the death of the driver.

The PPRO said, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Alawari, totally condemns the unlawful killing of one Mr Fwinbe Thomas who was found lying in the pool of his blood along the Tudun Wada Ring Road, Hwolshe, Jos.

“Sequel to the report of the incident by a credible informant on September 25, 2023, around 10:30pm, the police patrol team attached to the Anglo-Jos Division, rushed to the scene of the incident and found the victim lying in the pool of his blood beside a damaged Suzuki Mini Bus with number plate KWK 536 XA.”

The police added that the victim was suspected to have been beaten to death by the hoodlums, suspected to be commercial motorcyclists.

The police, in a message, said one of the suspect that killed the young man had been arrested.
