Kano State government has recruited 4,315 teachers into the state civil service.

The state governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, described the move as part of his administration’s determination to restore the glory of education in the state.

The governor, while speaking at the induction ceremony in Kano, explained that the newly appointed teachers had earlier served as interns, but have been given permanent and pensionable civil servants.

He noted that it is not just a ceremony, but a testament to their unwavering belief that education is the foundation and a prerequisite for the development of our people.

The governor said, “We expect you to teach with passion, serve with integrity, and dedicate yourselves to shaping the character of our children.”

Yusuf also announced the approval for the recruitment of additional 2,616 qualified teachers by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to strengthen the system and achieve the prescribed teacher–pupil ratio across schools towards enhancing the standard of education in the state.

The governor stated that the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of dilapidated structures, distribution of learning materials across all 44 LGAs, and promotion of thousands of teachers were several ongoing reforms in the sector.
