Governor Dauda Lawal reinstates 103 sacked teachers in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Government has reinstated 103 teachers who were removed from the state’s payroll about seven months ago.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, announced the development on Friday in Gusau.

Madawaki said the affected teachers were among 780 civil servants whose salaries were stopped in January following a statewide verification exercise.

According to him, the reinstated teachers were cleared after undergoing fresh screening, which confirmed that their suspension from the payroll resulted from administrative errors.

“The Executive Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved their reinstatement along with payment of salary arrears from January to July 2025,” the commissioner stated.

He said the exercise was aimed at sanitising the state’s workforce, adding that those reinstated were advised to show greater commitment to their duties.

“I urge the reinstated teachers to be dedicated and avoid any act that could undermine the education of our children,” Madawaki added.

It would be recalled that 780 workers were removed from the payroll earlier in the year after the verification identified cases of underage employment, illegal replacement, absenteeism, and double salaries.
