It is my distinct pleasure to extend warm greetings and congratulations to all members of the Eti-Osa Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, on the Inaugural Law Week of the Branch.
I am particularly delighted that the Branch which to the glory of God was created and inaugurated during my tenure as the General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, is just within a year of its establishment organizing its maiden Law Week, a rare and remarkable feat, which often takes a newly created Branch an average of 5 years to achieve.
As colleagues gather together to engage in discussions, share knowledge, and reflect on the importance of the legal profession, we should remember the selfless labour and commitment of all those who worked tirelessly to promote and ensure the creation of Eti-Osa Branch, particularly the two champions who are now of blessed memories, Abioye Akerele Esq (pioneer Secretary Eti-Osa Lawyers’ Forum) and M.M.A Sanni Esq (the pioneer NBA Eti-Osa Branch Chairman). May the Almighty God bless their souls.
The theme of this Inaugural Law Week, Bridging Tradition & Innovation in Law, emphasizes the importance of collaboration, innovation, and the continuing evolution of legal practices to meet the challenges of our rapidly changing world. It is a time to recognize the achievements of the past, address the issues of today, and look forward to the future of law and legal practice in Nigeria.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Branch Chairman, Olanrewaju Obadina Esq, for sustaining the tradition and vision behind the creation of the Branch, despite the fact that the responsibility of chairmanship of the Branch was thrown at him as an emergency assignment at this time. I also salute all members of the Branch Executive Committee, the Chairperson and all members of the Law Week Planning Committee, and ultimately, all members of the NBA Eti-Osa Branch, for their efforts and firm commitment towards the development of the Branch. I must not conclude my goodwill without appreciating all the participants, sponsors and speakers who have contributed their time, expertise, fund, and passion to making this Inaugural Law Week a reality. Your efforts are invaluable in fostering greater awareness for the Branch and promotion of excellence in the legal profession.
May this Law Week inspire meaningful dialogue, foster connections, and strengthen the bonds that tie us together in our shared pursuit of justice.
I wish the NBA Eti-Osa Branch a successful and impactful Law Week!
