The 2022 Annual Law Week of the Jalingo branch of the NBA kickstarted yesterday, 11th May 2022 to end tomorrow 13th May, 2022. “The event is themed:
Legal Practice in a Volatile Democracy; the Nigerian Experience”
Mr Ede Asenoguan’s Goodwill message to the branch on the occasion is reproduced below:
“It is with every sense of humility and candour that I felicitate the Jalingo branch of the NBA, celebrating its 2022 Annual Law Week themed: ‘Legal Practice in a Volatile Democracy; the Nigerian Experience’. Legal Practice in a Volatile Democracy; the Nigerian Experience’.
The theme of this year’s event is one that touches on the very essence and relevance of the legal profession in Nigeria. Going by the indices on ground, it is though scary but safe to state that the legal profession is gradually being relegated from its hallowed status owing to the flagrant disregard for the core principles and dictates of democracy.
True democracy is perhaps the only soil upon which the legal profession can effectively grow, hence we must as lawyers fight very vigorously in protecting same, and an event such as yours, with a theme in this regard is one of those very desperately needed avenues to reawaken our spirirts to this all important responsibility. To this end, we are very grateful for the opportunity.
It is our prayer that we never run out of steam in fighting for true democracy for the survival of the legal profession.
