Finance minister swears in 50 commissioners to resolve tax dispute

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has inaugurated 50 new commissioners to reaffirm the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution.

Presiding over the swearing-in, Edun emphasised that the appointments reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution system and ensuring fiscal justice.

In a statement made available by the newly appointed commissioner of the Tax Appeal Tribunal, Okide Ezigbo’s media aide, Godwin Oritshe on Saturday, Edun tasked the commissioners to prioritise equity and dedication in their new roles.

Reacting to the appointment, Ezigbo promised to be transparent and accountable while also expressing his commitment to service delivery.

The tribunal established under Section 59 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, is tasked with adjudicating tax-related disputes in Nigeria.

Ezigbo who is a seasoned legal professional from Anambra State, brings over 22 years of experience to the role.

He previously practised law at Funke Adekoya SAN Chambers in Yabal and Aelex Law Firm in Ikoyi.
