Former Arsenal and current Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey, 32, has been hit with two additional counts of rape by the UK Crown Prosecution Service. These new charges are historic and relate to an alleged incident from 2020 involving another woman that was first reported to police in August 2025.
Partey was already awaiting trial on earlier allegations five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women, with incidents said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022 while he was at Arsenal.
He denies all charges, including the latest ones, and has pleaded not guilty. His legal team says he welcomes the chance to clear his name in court.
Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13, 2026, in relation to the two new counts.
The full trial for the original set of charges has been set for November 2, 2026.
Despite the ongoing criminal proceedings, Partey remains on bail with conditions. These typically include constraints on international travel and no contact with alleged victims.
He is currently playing for Villarreal CF in Spain and could feature for the Ghana national team at the 2026 World Cup, subject to legal restrictions and scheduling.
It’s important to note that Partey is charged but not convicted. Under UK law, he is presumed innocent until the courts reach a verdict.
