Edo Assembly Suspends Member For Instigating Disunity

The lawmaker representing Esan South-East in the Edo State House of Assembly, Sunny Ojiezele, was on Monday suspended by the Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku for three months for allegedly instigating disunity among members

Ojiezele, a PDP lawmaker, is the first to be suspended in the 8th Assembly.

Agbebaku unilaterally suspended the two-time lawmaker for three months during the plenary of an emergency sitting.

He accused Ojiezele of instigating disunity among members.

He thereafter directed the Sergeant- at-Arms to walk out Ojiezele of the hallowed chambers of Edo House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, a request by Governor Godwin Obaseki to access N2.2 billion agricultural palliative loan has been approved by the House House of Assembly.

The loan has a repayment plan of N94.3 million within 24 months.

Also approved by the House N9.1 billion as a contractor, finance and bank guarantee loan, to be financed by First Bank, to enable the State Government to construct some housing units in Asokoro, Abuja.

The approval was also to procure 50 CNG buses for the Edo City Transport Services (ECTS) and the construction of roads, and drainages in the new Coral City in Benin among others.
