As the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) Meeting gets underway on March 22 and 23, 2024, I, Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun, former Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, wish to salute the Executive Council and all members of the Forum on this auspicious occasion.
As a proud member of the noble profession of law, I feel a strong sense of solidarity with my Eastern colleagues as they take yet another important step in navigating the challenges and opportunities that come with promoting the rule of law, equity and good governance in our society.
But more than professional solidarity, I feel a personal affinity (indeed, a family relationship) with my Eastern brothers and sisters. My beloved daughter-in-law, Nnenna Animashaun ( Nee Onunaku from Imo State) is married to my only son, Olawale.
Against the foregoing, then, it is only natural that I should take more than a passing interest in the affairs of my Eastern colleagues, and to have a commitment to doing whatever is in my power to contribute positively towards advancing their collective interests.
I’m confident that the outcome of this meeting will go a long way towards taking the EBF to the next level of its engagement with its constituents and partners. I wish you all a successful deliberation.
Thank you.
*Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun*
