Night has fallen on a brilliant career at the Nigerian Bar.
He was one of the most recognisable faces at the Bar. A regular attendee and active contributor at Bar Conferences across the nation, Ogaga Emoghwanren served his profession with an energy borne out of passion for its betterment and that of his colleagues. It was this passion that led him to run – albeit unsuccessfully – for the office of National NBA Publicity Secretary in the recently-concluded 2022 elections in July.
This passionate engagement with his chosen profession (and indeed with life itself) has now come to a sad end, as Ogaga Emoghwanren died suddenly on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
According to information available to NEWSWIRE Law & Events Magazine, Emoghwanren collapsed on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, and was taken to hospital at the Bendel Estate in Warri, Delta State and was immediately put in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but reportedly gave up the ghost shortly after.
Until his death, he was the Personal Assistant to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Olumide Akpata, as well as the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the Benin Branch of the Association.
Confirming Emoghwanren’s demise a few hours ago, a former Publicity Secretary of the NBA’s Benin Branch, Douglas Ogbankwa said the deceased was attending the NBA Administration of Criminal Justice Summit in Warri yesterday when he slumped and was rushed to the Bendel Estate hospital.
In one of his last public acts, Ogaga had run for the office of Publicity Secretary at the NBA elections – losing, however, to Habeeb Akorede Lawal.
Emoghwanre, who was born on the 23rd of May, 1980, hailed from Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
He was the Principal Partner at the fast-rising law firm of OGAGA EMOGHWANRE & CO., which boasted of competencies in such practice areas as litigation, commercial transaction, immigration, real estate,
banking and securities, copyright, trademarks, and entertainment law, e.t.c., with
offices in Benin City, Edo State, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Ogaga was educated at the University of Benin, where he bagged a Bachelor’s of Laws degree in 2008. He
was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 2, 2010. Between 2011 and 2015, he
cut his legal teeth at the law firm of K. O. Ehigiamusoe & Co. (Legal Practitioners).
He served as a member of the Board of Directors of a host of companies with a interests in a variety of practice areas.
He served the Nigerian
Bar Association in various capacities at both the branch and national levels. Until his passing, he was also
the Secretary of the NBA Welfare Committee.
