The senator representing Cross River South of Cross River State, Asuquo Ekpenyong, has detailed his achievements in his two-year stay at the Senate.
In a statement on Sunday, he said in 24 months, there had been transformation across Cross River South in infrastructure, education investments, and healthcare, among others.
The lawmaker said he installed over 6,870 streetlights, bringing safety and new life to night-time commerce in the district.
He also said 11 newly built and eight reconstructed roads now connected communities and markets, easing transportation and boosting local economies across the district.
He listed projects such as Ikot Nkebre Layout, Adiabo Road off Tinapa, and Clerk Alley Street which he said had improved access and revitalised entire neighbourhoods.
Speaking on health infrastructure, Ekpeyong said, “Through 17 medical outreaches, 4,422 residents now receive essential healthcare services, many for the first time.”
He added that 1,700 students had access to a brighter future through the Domestic Education Support Initiative, with 31 studying abroad under foreign scholarships.
Speaking on the achievements, a trader in Calabar South, Mrs Nkese Etim, said, “Before now, we felt forgotten, but today we see and feel the difference. Our children are going to better schools, our roads are passable, and opportunities are available to everyone.”
The statement listed that the lawmaker facilitated employment in the Federal Public Service for 28 constituents, with 12 others holding appointments in the National Assembly.
Reflecting on his time in office, Ekpeyong stated, “My primary purpose in the Senate is the accelerated development of our land and people — nothing else.
“We are here to serve, to build, and to ensure that no community is left behind.”
