The Ogun State High Court has dismissed all claims made by Hon. Wale Adedayo against Governor Dapo Abiodun, ruling that the governor was not responsible for Adedayo’s suspension as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government.
Justice Catherine Ogunsanya delivered the judgment in case HCJ/53/2025, where Adedayo had accused the governor of orchestrating his suspension.
The court explained that a local government is “a separate entity distinct from the Governor” and has its own legal powers to act, sue, or be sued.
The court noted that although only the governor could legally suspend Adedayo for three months, a step he never took Adedayo’s tenure had already expired, so he could not be returned to office.
Since he did not ask for unpaid salary, the court could not award it.
However, the judge awarded N30m in general damages to Adedayo
