An Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded two men, Victor Otache, 30, and Wisdom Habeeb Abudu, 22, for allegedly stealing food items valued at N2.5m.
The defendants, who are facing two counts bordering on conspiracy and theft, were arraigned before Magistrate Folashade Hughes.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Philomena Nnaji, told the court that the defendants stole rice, beans, palm oil, dressed chicken, fruits, garri, and other food items belonging to Abundish Limited at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Nnaji told the court that the alleged offences were committed between April and September 14, 2025, at 15B Wole Olateju Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
According to her, the offences committed contravened Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The defence counsel, B. N. Nwaigwa, urged the court to grant the defendants bail in liberal terms.
Consequently, Magistrate Hughes granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 with sureties in like sum.
She, however, ordered that they be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons pending the perfection of their bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until October 14, 2025, for further hearing.
