A disturbing testimony was presented in court by a witness brought in by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. The witness alleged that Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, had demanded her virginity in exchange for securing her admission into the LLB programme
The witness, referred to as TKJ, disclosed that the professor assured her of admission into the main programme if she agreed to give him her virginity. Ndifon, alongside his lawyer Sunny Anyanwu, is facing trial on amended counts of alleged sexual harassment and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
TKJ recounted an encounter in the professor’s office where he allegedly made inappropriate advances, including requesting a hug and touching her chest. She also claimed that Ndifon pressured her for a nude video, even after she told him she was a virgin.
Further allegations revealed that the suspended dean had requested more nude pictures during the university’s panel probe and had attempted to make unwanted physical advances towards TKJ.
Following TKJ’s testimony, the prosecution counsel requested to submit a bank receipt for N3,000 sent to the witness for treatment as evidence. The trial judge, James Omotoso, admitted the receipt as evidence and adjourned the matter till February 7.
