A 36-year-old civil servant, Moses Saka, was docked in the Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, Abuja, for using juju on a four-year-old girl.
The police charged Mr Saka and another suspect, Joseph (at large), with criminal conspiracy and unlawful juju.
Prosecution counsel Abdullahi Tanko told the court that the complainant Labaran Dikko of Gosa village, Abuja reported the matter at the police station on December 16, 2022.
Mr Tanko said the defendant conspired to perform juju on his four-year-old daughter.
He said during the police investigation, the defendant confessed that the native doctor performed the ritual in his apartment (the defendant’s).
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 216 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The judge, Abdulkarim Abdullahi, admitted the defendant to N500,000 bail with one reasonable surety in like sum.
Mr Abdullahi said that the surety must reside within the FCT and adjourned the case until March 16 for a hearing.
