The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and a Prince of the Muri Emirate, Sadiq Tafida, has won the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal constituency seat after the supplementary election.
He polled 19,681 votes from the rerun and the subsequent supplementary election to clinch the House of Representatives seat.
The returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Olarenwaju Oladipo, of Federal University Wukari, made the announcement Thursday.
According to him, “The candidate of the PDP, Sadiq Tafida, polled 19,681 votes; Innocent Jabayang of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, had 16,379; Aminu Malle of the All Progressive Congress, APC, polled 12,662, while the candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Aminu Liman, scored 3,646.”
Addressing journalists after his victory, Tafida thanked the electorate for giving him their mandate to represent them at the green chambers.
He also promised to deliver the required dividends of democracy to his constituents.
