The Lagos Police Department says it is probing attacks made by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Yoruba separatist groups.
Hakeem Odumosu, Commissioner of Police, promised that no deterioration of law and order, or violence on soft targets, will be accepted.
Odumosu spoke at a stakeholders forum on defense in Lagos, which was presided over by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to the CP, the command was aware of Yoruba secessionists’ calls for the Oodua Republic, as well as “threats to threaten law and order in the state.”
According to the police chief, twenty-four members of the gangs have been confirmed and are being closely watched.
“The challenge posed by IPOB to strike soft targets in Lagos is also being monitored by the state’s command intelligence collection and other security services.”
Odumosu urged citizens to be alert and report suspicious people or activities to security forces, assuring them that strategies are being placed in place to combat crime.
