No fewer than five persons in Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya community of Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been kidnapped by bandits.

The bandits also reportedly killed a 27-year-old man, Piti Ezekiel, in a fresh attack on the community.

The National Secretary, Kauru Local Government Area Community Development Association Forum, Danbaba Katuka, Saturday PUNCH reports.

He identified the abducted persons as Afiniki Baban Gida (46), Afiniki Timothy (41), Talatu Timothy (40), Manayi Abu (36) and Richard Dalhatu (42), while one Timothy Daure (48), a traditional title holder in Kumana Chiefdom, survived a gunshot injury.

Katuka explained that the bandits invaded the village on Thursday at 10:30pm, taking vantage position and shooting sporadically.

Recalled that Kauru Local Government Area had, in recent times, become the hotbed of insecurity crippling the economic activities of the locals, with many households displaced.

“Many locals in Kauru communities have been deserted because of the activities of these bandits, with many residents abandoning their farm produce for fear of being attacked or kidnapped.

“Communities are ready to give all the necessary support that will help address the security challenges in Kauru communities,” Katuka added

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
