A member of the House of Representatives representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, has donated ₦5.3 million and 78 bags of assorted grains to families affected by a recent bandit attack in Gwargwabe community, Nahuche District, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The intervention followed a brutal attack by armed bandits last Thursday, during which residents were killed, some burnt alive, while houses and food silos were set ablaze.
Community records indicate that seven villagers were killed, four of whom were reportedly burnt. Six houses were destroyed, 33 residents lost their food supplies, 10 others lost domestic animals, while three persons sustained injuries during the attack.
The relief materials were presented to the victims through a delegation led by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bungudu Local Government Area, Hon. Kabiru Dan Kulu, accompanied by party stakeholders.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Zannan Bungudu condemned the attack as “an act of cruelty of the highest order,” praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for divine protection against future occurrences.
He expressed confidence that those responsible would face justice, noting that their actions would attract consequences both in this life and beyond.
A statement issued by the lawmaker’s Chief Image Maker, Aminu Lawal Bungudu, detailed the distribution of the relief items.
According to the statement, each of the seven bereaved families received ₦200,000 and three bags of food items, while families whose houses were razed were given ₦200,000 and two bags of food items each.
Victims who lost domestic animals received ₦50,000 each, while the three injured persons were also given ₦50,000 each. Additionally, 33 individuals who lost their food supplies received ₦50,000 and one bag of food items each.
The lawmaker reiterated his commitment to supporting his constituents during times of distress and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect rural communities across Zamfara State.
