The Dome Event Centre in Asaba, the Delta State capital, got a foretaste of the flurry of activity it was going to play host to for the next three days when it welcomed members of Nigeria’s legal fraternity in a welcome cocktail party to kick off the 2022 edition of the Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP).
NEWSWIRE Law and Events Magazine’s correspondent in Asaba reports that the event was graced by a broad section of lawyers from the various Bar branches in the nation, and representing various years of post-call experience. Among the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) who lent their presence to the occasion were the Chairman of the NBA-SLP, Chief Ferdinand Orbih, SAN; the honorable Attorney-General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN; Chief JK Gadzama,SAN; YC Maikyau, SAN; Miannaya Essien, SAN; Emekz Ozoani SAN, Boma Alabi OON SAN; Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN; and Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN. Others included the honorable Attorney-General of Delta State, Isaiah Bozimo; Mrs. Folashade Alli; Alex Muoka (former Lagos NBA Chairman); Andrew Odum, and many others.
In his welcome remarks, Chief Orbih, the SLP helmsman assured the assembled delegates of a splendid time in the Delta State capital. He drew applause with his announcement of free accommodation for young lawyers who were sponsored to the occasion.
The rest of the evening was given over to wining, dining and music, as delegates and guests sampled the delicacies on offer and anticipated the formal commencement of the full Conference programme on Monday, July 4, under the theme, ‘LEGAL PRACTICE IN NIGERIA: OUR REALITY, OUR FUTURE.’
