Three individuals, including a 12-year-old boy, sustained injuries after personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) opened fire during an attempted arrest in Tudun Wada village, Liman-Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, was revealed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Thursday.
According to the report, the NSCDC patrol team from Alkaleri LGA had gone to the village to effect an arrest when a confrontation erupted between them and some residents. In the course of the altercation, the operatives reportedly opened fire, injuring three people.
Two of the victims, identified as Hamza Sarkin Aska and Jibrin Adamu—both residents of Tudun Wada—sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. A 12-year-old Almajiri, Umar Rabiu, from Yola Doka village, suffered bruises on his right leg.
Security personnel swiftly intervened and evacuated the injured to General Hospital Yuguda for treatment. Medical officials confirmed that Sarkin Aska and Adamu were admitted and are responding to treatment, while the young boy was treated and discharged.
The Bauchi State Police Command has reportedly launched an investigation into the shooting incident to determine the circumstances and ensure accountability.
