I was deeply honoured to be presented with the Human Rights Champion Award by the Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch.
I have been an active member of the Committee since 2017, during which I have remained deeply committed to securing justice for victims of human rights violations, particularly indigent persons, in both the Magistrate and High Courts.
Currently serving as the Chairperson of the Police Duty Solicitor Scheme (PDSS) Sub-Committee, I received this award in recognition of my unwavering commitment and dedication to the promotion and protection of the rule of law and the rights of underprivileged Nigerians.
The award was presented to me on 20th May 2025, during the PDSS Training themed “Protecting the Rights of Pre-Trial Detainees”, which was held at the NBA Lagos Branch Secretariat, Victoria Island, Lagos, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria (LACON), and the Duty Solicitors Network (DSN).
My involvement with the Human Rights Committee has always been driven by a desire to give back to society. I have remained steadfast in this cause without any expectation of recognition. I attended the training without any prior notice or hint that I would be receiving this award.
I, Jacob Dipo Famodimu Esq. express my sincere appreciation for this honour and reaffirm my continued commitment to advancing justice and defending the rights of the vulnerable in our society.
Warm regards,
Jacob Dipo Famodimu, LLM, GCTI, ACTI, Notary Public
