“APC Gubernatorial Candidate Raises Concerns Over Minimum Wage and Allocation Discrepancies in Edo State”

0

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC gubernatorial candidate for the September 21 election in Edo State, cautioned the populace about Governor Godwin Obaseki’s N70,000 minimum wage announcement. He views it as a ploy to coerce civil servants into supporting his party and a deliberate diversion from pressing issues.

Additionally, Okpebholo challenged the governor to account for the N5 billion allocated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023 for palliatives. He alleged that instead of utilizing it for its intended purpose, Obaseki earmarked it for his election campaign.

Okpebholo emphasized that Edo civil servants are owed six months’ worth of arrears and criticized the lack of transparency in the government’s use of funds. He pledged to prioritize areas like healthcare, housing, and transportation, beyond just the minimum wage, if elected.
