At least four persons have been arraigned before Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, over cases of defilement of minors, sexual and gender based violence.
The suspects were also remanded in Awka Correctional Centre after their arraignment.
Details of the offences of the four suspects were not made known by the spokesperson of the state police command in Anambra, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in the release announcing the arraignment and remand of the suspects.
He, however, added that the suspects are remanded pending further court proceedings.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu as reassuring the public of its unwavering commitment to the protection of children and other vulnerable persons in the State.
Orutugu also warned all offenders that such acts will not go unpunished in the state.
