Alleged Theft: Bet Naija Employee and Accomplice Arraigned

Charged with the theft of N16.7m from a customer, a Bet Naija attendant, Bojuwoye Adetola, and her friend, Bunmi Dada, appeared before Magistrate F.F. George at the Lagos State Police Command.

During the arraignment on Monday, the police prosecutor, James Okosun, stated that the defendants were accused of conspiring and committing the crime at their outlet in the Iddo area of Lagos State, between September 12 and 24, 2023

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene and are punishable under Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of the Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The complainant, Lukman Issa, informed that he won N16.7 million from betting at their shop, but the attendant, Adetola, did not pay him. He alleged that she had been misappropriating the funds and conspired with her friends to withhold the payment.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Magistrate George granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum. The case was adjourned till March 4, 2024 for mention
