Adamawa places 21 LGAs on alert as measles kills 45

No fewer than 45 persons have been confirmed dead as the measles outbreak ravages Adamawa North Senatorial District of Adamawa State.

the worst hit are Mubi and Gombi Local Government Areas,LGAs.

The state Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Felix Tangwame, said this while briefing newsmen shortly after an executive council meeting.

He said the epidemic has affected eight wards in Mubi and seven in Gombi, adding that 45 persons have died out of 308 cases.

 

 

The commissioner said all the 21 LGAs except Lamurde have been placed on red spot.

 

Tangwame said upon receiving the report of the outbreak, the ministry responded swiftly, saying it has been able to manage the situation.

 

He noted that government and partners were on top of the situation.

 

Tangwame advised residents to always take precautionary measures against the dreaded disease.
