Florence Vandi, a female healthcare worker employed at Adamawa State Primary Health Care Center Girei LGA, is said to have killed herself in protest of her boyfriend’s passing. Late Florence, an impoverished resident of Girei Local Government Area and an indigent of Michika LGA, committed herself by ingesting a chemical found nearby that was thought to be a poisonous pesticide known as sniper. According to a statement released on Tuesday by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, PPRO Adamawa State Police Command, the 22-year-old committed suicide on December 12, 2023.
Nguroje said,
“The deceased took the unfortunate decision few hours after the death of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who died while receiving treatment at the hospital. “Investigation further revealed that until her death, Florence was a health worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, who expressed sadness over the incident, advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their own hands and report any suspicious movement around their neighbourhood to the police.
