Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, has confirmed that one of their members died in the billboard accident on Wednesday at Salad Junction in Aba.

The union described the incident as a big tragedy.

A statement signed by Aba Zonal Chairman of ASTOPU, Victor Azubuike, asked the Abia State government to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and to compensate the families of the victims.

The union equally urged relevant health authorities to ensure that those receiving treatment get the best possible care and support.

The union, which asked Abia State government agencies and other regulatory bodies to prioritize public safety through strict inspections, demanded the enforcement of standards for billboards and all similar structures in the state.
