We are pleased to announce the release of the latest edition of Nigeria’s foremost law events magazine. As with our previous offerings, this one is a veritable masterpiece – even if we do say so ourselves.
This issue comes just after the heartwarming recognition of our brand and our work at the last 2025 ESQ Nigerian Legal Awards in Lagos, where we were honored with the award for the Law Blog of the Year.
This new issue takes a look back at the 32nd Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Enugu, the Enugu State capital – an occasion, those who were privileged to attend it would agree, is one that will linger long in the memory. We recapture the highlights of what was said and done during that signature event.
It is no longer news that the politics of the 2026 general elections in the NBA is steadily gathering momentum. In this cycle, the prospect of a female luminary ascending to the Association’s top seat has made its way to the front-burner of discourse. Is this feasible – or just a pipe-dream? We asked a group of accomplished female senior lawyers in the country to bare their minds on the matter. Read their insightful responses here.
On our Cover is Nigeria’s ace photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi. A trained lawyer who later pivoted to the visual arts (first as a painter, and then as a creative photographer), Amadi-Obi is renowned globally as a trend-setter in Nigeria’s creative ecosystem. He has captured the imagination of many for his ability to combine an astute legal mindset with an intense creative vision. Enter his world with us in this issue.
This edition also marks the concluding part of our conversation with the legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, which we began in the previous edition.
In the rapidly-evolving and interconnected world we inhabit, it no longer makes sense for anybody – an individual or a corporate entity – to operate in isolation, as that’s a surefire path to irrelevance. In the 21st century global economy, collaboration within and across nations and sectors is the name of the game. Armed with this understanding, the law firm of George Etomi & Partners (GEPLAW) is at the forefront of driving cross-border engagements, as it demonstrated recently when it hosted the California Climate and Economic Delegation to a Networking/Dinner Event in Lagos. It was an intense knowledge-sharing session indeed.
Our award-winning magazine has all these, plus our usual titbits, insightful opinion pieces, and even a bit of legal humour.
As the payoff on our masthead says, NEWSWIRE is about style as well as substance.
We’re sure you’re going to enjoy going through this one.
Happy reading, and thanks, as always, for your patronage.
