The Executive Council of the Lagos chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, during which the group intimated His Lordship with its programmes and challenges.
Led by the Chairperson of FIDA Lagos, Mrs. Chinwe Efobi, the group was received by the Chief Judge and a number of High Court Judges of the Ikeja Judicial Division of the state, as well as senior officers in the Lagos State judiciary.
The visiting FIDA delegation used the opportunity of the visit to renew their call for a FIAT from the state government. An earlier request, they noted, had been made in writing to
the Attorney-General of Lagos State, for which feedback was still being awaited.
In his response, the Chief Judge, assured the FIDA Lagos team that their request of a FIAT would surely be granted, adding that FIDA is a household name and an important organisation which had made its mark on the society over the years.
On FIDA’s request for a desk dedicated to the organization in all the courts of Lagos State, His Lordship was mindful of the judiciary’s constraints in this regard, saying there wasn’t enough space in courtrooms across the state.
The FIDA team also extended an invitation to the CJ to its forthcoming Annual FIDA Law Week, which he gladly accepted.
The visit to the affable Justice Alogba, CJ, ended with the presentation of souvenirs to members of the FIDA Lagos Exco.
