Justina Egoyibo Amanda Asagba (Nee DEMECHI), LL.B, B.L, M.I.L.D, M.Div, SCMA, FICMC, is a Lawyer, Human Rights Activist, Gender Researcher, Mediator, Arbitrator, Private Prosecutor, Notary Public and the President of African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), the Parent / Umbrella Body of AWLA Country Chapters founded in 1997. She is the President of Legal Pool for Justice and Equity Initiative, and the immediate past Country Representative of African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Nigeria. She is also Chairman, Alternate Chair and Secretary of many Committees of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), African Bar Association, International Alliance of Women (IAW) and Boards and Councils of Agencies and Corporations.
She obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in 1988 from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, a Masters in International Law and Diplomacy (M.I.L.D) in 1991 from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, and had a stint in the sciences at Vital Management Tech (VMT ) Washington DC, USA in 2001-2003. She had working and practical experiences in leading Law Firms and Mediation Centres- Ajumogobia, Okeke and Oyebode, Akinola Aina, Collins Aimua and Co and Sanya Ayeni and Co, Lagos Multidoor CourtHouse Neutral and Citizens’ Mediation Centre
She is a consummate Bar man, a Comrade and a Consultant duly recognized internationally and locally and a recipient of many awards for Excellence, Commitment and Dedication to the Welfare of Women and Children, the oppressed and marginalized.
She has trodden uncommon legal paths, lends her voice to the call for Children’s welfare, women’s emancipation and increased political participation, good governance among other issues in Nigeria and abroad
