SECULARITY OF NIGERIAN : WHY I WANT THE NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN PILGRIM COMMISSION AND THE NATIONAL HAJJ COMMISSION BANNED

    0

When a country is secular, it simply means that religion in that country is separated from Government . The implication of this is that Government must not officially recognise support, finance , maintain , run or partake in the activities or affairs of any religion .

The Nigerian constitution explicitly provides that Nigeria is a secular State. Being a multi religious country with her Citizens practising , Christianity, Islam, African Traditional Religion , Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Animism etc , the Nigerian Government must not and should not be seen as patronising any religion but alas this is not the case , as successive Nigerian Government to date have involved themselves in religious matters as if religion is part of governance as envisage by the Nigerian constitution .

The Nigerian Government in flagrant violation of the Nigerian constitution established THE NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN PILGRIM COMMISSION AND THE NATIONAL HAJJ COMMISSION by Acts of the National Assembly and over the years have being involved in the appointment of the Chairmen of both Commissions, financing and paying officials of both Commissions salaries , pension , gratuities and other retirement benefits with tax payers money and allowing staff and members of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministries of Finance, Health , Aviation, Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs to be members of both Commissions in official capacities.

The above is a clear slap on the SECULARITY status of Nigeria and one of the main reason why there is extreme poor governance in Nigeria today . The way going forward is for the immediate disbandment of both Commissions as well as all the Christian and Moslem Boards in the entire 36 States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital of Nigeria.

In the light of the above, I am in court via my originating summons in suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/37/2020 at the Federal High Court Abuja to do the needful to help free the Nigerian Government at all levels from the burden of religion so that they
can concentrate optimally in the act of governance so as to make Nigeria a better place for the present generation and future generations to come .
