Zamfara State House of Assembly has recalled two of its members accused of aiding and abetting banditry in the state. It was reported that the two lawmakers, Yusuf Anka representing Anka constituency and Ibrahim Bakura representing Bakura constituency. who were accused of aiding and abetting banditry were suspended few months ago.
A committee was set up by the House to investigate the matter and report for further necessary action.A statement by the assembly’s Director General, Press Affairs and Public Relations, Mustafa Kaura, read, “The House considered and adopted all the recommendations of the Ethics and Privileges Committee of the House that investigated the two suspended members.
The committee exonerated them of any wrong doing and strongly recommended their immediate recall to their respective seats.” Kaura said immediately after the presentation of the report before the committe’s chairman, Kabiru Dansadau, and subsequent deliberations, debate and arguments on the matter, the House unanimously agreed to recall their colleagues since they have been exonerated.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Nasiru Magarya, saluted the courage of the committee members for painstakingly arriving at the conclusion.He ordered the recall of the two suspended House members with effect from next legislative year beginning from January 15, 2022.
