The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday said it did not arrest Channels Television presenters.

Public Relations Officer of the Service, Dr Peter Afunanya, in a terse comment in WhatsApp group said:”No Channels TV presenters were arrested by the DSS as falsely reported in sections of the Media. Fake news peddlers should shun the act.”The DSS spokesman further stressed this in a statement titled “NO CHANNELS TELEVISION REPORTERS WERE ARRESTED BY THE DSS”.

It reads: “The attention of the DSS has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its operatives earlier today (26th August, 2021) arrested two (2) journalists of Channels Television. This is false and misleading. Fake news peddlers should shun the act.”He was reacting to reports that the Service had arrested the anchors of Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, in connection with interviews conducted on the programme on Wednesday. The interviews were with Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom and another guest, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (Retd).
