On Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari witnessed Eid-el-Fitr prayers on the forecourt of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

At 9:00 a.m., prayers were heard, and COVID procedures were followed.

The president’s family members, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Babagana Monguno, President’s Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and other presidential aides were present.

During the two raka’at (units) prayers, the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was also seen with her daughters.

President Buhari had on May 9 again announced a ban on traditional Sallah homage Aso Rock by religious, community and political leaders.

The President, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, encouraged such leaders to be content with modest celebrations at home in view of the COVID-19 pandemic as was the case last year.
