Members’ Life Insurance Scheme: NBA Approves Extension of the 2019 Claims

Dear distinguished Chairmen and Secretaries

RE: NBA MEMBERS’ LIFE INSURANCE SCHEME.

I write to humbly appreciate you for your prompt response to the Welfare Committee’s request for information from your respective branches. While we await the corresponding response from the Committee, I urge branches to continue to be magnanimous towards our colleagues who may be in one form of need or the other.

In view of the publication of the President on the 28/04/2020 on the need for closure of 2019 benefits for our deceased colleagues and the renewal of the scheme with Leadway Assurance Company Limited, please be informed that the President has approved an extension of the 2019 claims until the 15th day of May, 2020.

I urge you all to take advantage of the extension granted to ensure you forward your claims not later than 15/05/2020 to:

It is important you arm yourself with the following information about deceased members to speed up the process of the claims.

1. The full name of the deceased.
2. Date of Death
3. The Supreme Court Number of the deceased.
4. Evidence of payment of the 2019 Bar Practicing Fees,
5. The name of Next of Kin of our deceased colleague.
6. Death Certificate of the deceased.
7. Evidence of Payment of Branch dues.

Please note that once this window of extension expires, claims for deceased colleagues for 2019 will no longer be entertained.

Meanwhile, the 2020 Life Insurance claims for deceased colleagues has commence. Branches can also send in their claims.
