As preparations intensify for the NBA–SLP 2026 Annual Conference, the Conference Planning Committee has begun setting the tone for what promises to be a defining moment for legal practice in Nigeria. In line with this vision, the Conference leadership recently embarked on high-level strategic and judicial engagements in Lagos State, underscoring the importance of collaboration, institutional support, and shared commitment to professional excellence.

Led by Folashade Alli, SAN, C.Arb, Chairman of the NBA Section on Legal Practice, and Kelechi Obi, SAN, Co-Chairman of the 2026 Conference Planning Committee (CPC) and other stakeholders of committee, the delegation paid courtesy visits to key justice sector leaders in Lagos, including the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, and the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba.
These engagements marked a significant milestone in the build-up to the Conference scheduled to hold from 7–10 April 2026 at the newly renovated National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
Discussions with the Honourable Attorney General focused on forging strategic partnerships, deepening stakeholder buy-in, and securing the institutional backing required to deliver a Conference of lasting relevance. The engagement reflected a shared understanding that the future of legal practice depends on collaboration between the Bar, the Bench, and the justice sector leadership.
The visit to the Chief Judge of Lagos State further reinforced this commitment. Addressing an audience that included Justices, Deputy Chief Registrars, and members of the legal community, the CPC Chairman formally briefed the judiciary on the Conference and sought robust judicial participation, recognising Lagos as the heartbeat of legal practice in Nigeria.

The Chief Judge highlighted pressing challenges confronting the profession, including Declining standards of ethics, courtroom decorum, and professional conduct;
These interventions resonate directly with the core focus of the Conference: strengthening ethics, professionalism, and standards within the Nigerian legal profession.
With Judge Olufemi Elias set to deliver the Keynote Address and sessions featuring His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, NBA SLP 2026 is shaping up to be more than a gathering , it is a deliberate intervention aimed at resetting professional values and setting a new pace for legal practice in Nigeria.
