At least three individuals caught dumping waste on the median of Ikotun–Igando Road on Tuesday have been taken into custody.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests in a statement posted on his X handle.
The suspects were identified as Muosolu Ogochukwu, 35 (female); Adedigba Kazeem, 35 (male); and Isaac Monday, 24 (male).
He explained that the arrests followed early morning operations on Monday by the Lagos Waste Management Authority’s Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team, as part of ongoing efforts to tackle waste blackspots along the corridor.
“As a result of these operations, three individuals were apprehended for disposing of refuse illegally at the road median along Ikotun Igando Road.
“The apprehended individuals have been transferred to the LAWMA legal team at the Oshodi Mobile Court for further legal proceedings,” the commissioner stated.
Wahab reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and maintaining cleanliness across Lagos, cautioning residents against the indiscriminate disposal of waste.
