A suspected transborder criminal financier has been arrested in Kano by operatives of the Nigerian Police Scorpion Squad, with ₦15.28 million recovered during the operation.
The incident was contained in a post on X shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Friday.
According to Makama, the suspect, Alhaji Jazuli Adamu, 40, was picked up in Fagge Local Government Area after digital intelligence and confessions from previously arrested armed robbery suspects linked him to a cross-border car-snatching syndicate.
Makama said Jazuli was identified as the financial handler for Alhaji Abdulkarim Ibrahim (known as Gabeida) from Niger Republic, who allegedly sponsored and armed criminal groups to steal SUVs and Hilux vehicles across different states.
Police investigators found that proceeds from the operations were transferred to Jazuli’s account for onward distribution to members of the gang, while the stolen vehicles were moved across the border into Niger Republic.
“Upon his arrest, officers recovered ₦15,280,000, which was reportedly sent to him by Abdulkarim for payment to the criminals,” Makama wrote.
Makama also noted that Jazuli runs a small Bureau de Change (BDC) business in Kano, and early checks on his digital communications showed transaction records running into billions of naira between him and Abdulkarim.
Suspects who had earlier received payments through Jazuli are currently in custody as interrogation and investigations into the wider syndicate continue.
