A man identified as Shalbal Yusuf from Matadangwoni Village in the Auna District of Magama Local Government Area of Niger state has been declared wanted by the police after the killing of a 30-year-old man, Lusha Alhaji Washa, popularly known as Muyaye.
The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday around half past midnight.
According to local accounts, Yusuf allegedly met his wife with Washa and a heated confrontation followed. In the chaos, he was said to have struck Washa with a machete, leaving deep wounds on his head and neck.
Zagazola Makama reports that, Washa was taken to the General Hospital in Auna for emergency care but died while receiving treatment. His remains were photographed and kept at the hospital for autopsy.
Police have launched a manhunt for Yusuf as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the violent encounter.
